Time for WB to Throw off Yoke of Submission

The United States used its influence over the World Bank (WB) to block a loan to the Islamic Republic that was meant for development projects.

The executive directors of the World Bank highlighted the achievements made by Iran during the last few years. They described Iran's economic, political and social achievements as positive and declared Iran as being eligible to receive financial facilities from the bank.

Iran's representative in the World Bank, Mohammad Khazaei, on Saturday said that he expected facilities of some $750 million for the investment in the fields such as water and sewage management, protection of environment and recycling of wastes.

However, the pro-Zionist U.S. administration once again repeated its baseless allegations accusing Iran of pursuing weapons of mass destruction in order to prevent the loan.

Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have on several occasions visited Iran's nuclear facilities and certified that they are used for peaceful purposes. Thus, considering that the World Bank officials already knew that Iran's nuclear facilities were of a peaceful nature, accepting the U.S. allegations only indicated their submission to the U.S. hegemony.

It is really shameful for the WB, which is expected to provide facilities to all its members, to be under the influence of Washington and obey its dictates.

The U.S. expulsion last week from the UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) and the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) clearly showed that the era of U.S. hegemony is over, as nations are no longer willing to bow to the U.S. blackmail. It is also time for the World Bank executives to throw off the yoke of submission to the United States and restore their honor and dignity.
